Experiencing a New Year Celebration

We visited the Children's Museum yesterday to learn alittle and experience a New Year's countdown. Perhaps it is better to celebrate on New Year's eve eve, and at noon instead of midnight with this group. I was a little concerned that they misjudged their audience, because the radio station that was broadcasting there was a classic rock station. However, I thought about seeing Camdyn play air guitar as I backed the car out of the garage to go to the museum. The radio was on the same station, and while I don't remember the song name now, it was definitely air guitar worthy.

I dragged the girls to see Captain Jim's Pirate Magic show, and we were not disappointed. Captain Jim knows how to entertain, and is extremely authentic with a real parrot and real peg leg (found out later this was the result of a motorcycle accident). Hopefully Captain Jim will entertain us again in the future.

Afterwards, the staff passed out hats and noisemakers. The noisemakers were a huge hit with the crowd, and dancing was introduced as a distraction. Camdyn was keeping pace doing the Macarena, Chicken Dance, and YMCA. We then practiced counting up and down in English and Spanish. After the final countdown, we experinced the sound of fireworks through the stomping of the bubble wrap:
McKenna took in the festivities, but choose not to actively participate. She did volunteer some time to work a booth as the greeter for the museum:

As for Keeghan, she and mommy missed out, since they went to the doctor to confirm her first ear infection. It is a good first attempt, but she has her work cut out if she wants to come close to the number of ear infections of her sisters. But like her sisters, the only indication was a brief period of fussiness. She's taking her medicine well, and is otherwise back to her typically happy self.

Life with one girl can be exciting too - though stomping bubblewrap sounds more fun (to me at least) than Dez trying to explode the neighborhood. Ella enjoyed the lights (I had put in baby earplugs so her little eardrums wouldn't be affected).

Thanks so much for setting this up. I'll be adding it to my favorites and checking in. Of course, it puts pressure on the rest of us to do something similar. Thanks a lot!

The celebration at the Museum looked like fun. Our kids all stayed awake and saw the ball drop for the first time; with no crankiness yesterday.

Old age and being responsible makes for a boring new years! Andrew was in bed by 8:00 and JC and I were in bed by 10:00. My biggest excitement was Stewie (the dog) waking me up at 12:10 with a horrific coughing/sneezing attack...whoppee!!! However, no hangover made January 1st much easier to bear and we efficiently ripped down all holiday decorations and returned the house to normal. Thank goodness everone went back to daycare and back to work today...now maybe my head will stop hurting!
