First You Learn To Crawl, Then...
At last, Keeghan has figured out how to go forward. It's a combination of a military crawl and using any leverage she can find to launch forward. She's learning to coordinate her body movement to get what she wants, mostly drawer handles that are located near the floor. I haven't figured out a good way to post video, but realized at this pace, time lapse might even be better.

Greensboro Children's Museum
Several months ago while I took Camdyn to a birthday party, Don took McKenna and Keeghan to the Greensboro Children's Museum. Ever since then, Camdyn and Don have wanted to go back. Don really just wanted to sit in the race car. His instructions were to start shooting (pictures) and not stop until he told me to. Here are the highlights:
Mommy's helper
McKenna can be a good helper or a "big girl" as she refers to herself now. This particular night, she was delighted to help set the table. She picked out the color of the plates for each person (we now have Fiestaware as our everyday dishes yeah! in 5 different colors...notice the all red table), selected the forks and put the napkins out. She was quite proud of herself! She is the first to check on Keeghan and will report back "she okay, Momma". She is happy to do anything for her baby sister... now for others (like her big sister), it is another story.
5 and 1/2
Camdyn knows she is 5 and 1/2. This is because her teacher LOVES birthdays and loves celebrating with the children in her class. Because Camdyn's August birthday fell two weeks before school started, she "qualified" to celebrate her 1/2 birthday in February. Camdyn was absolutely delighted! She could not wait for her big day to begin... Here she is in Daddy's car waiting to go to school before Daddy was even ready to leave. 
Camdyn's teacher gave her a special crown, sticker and sweatshirt to wear for the "big" day. (Her teacher had a matching sweatshirt and shoes decorated with balloons.) There were many highlights to the day: being the line leader, the special cupcake her teacher brought for her, blowing out the candle on her cupcake, and having a special lunch we brought in for her.
Camdyn chose to have donuts as her special treat with her classmates. Donuts are a big thing here as Krispy Kreme had their corporate headquarters here until just a few months ago. Camdyn was doubly excited that the donuts were heart shaped (her favorite shape) and had pink, white and red sprinkles (her favorite colors) on them. How perfect that her 1/2 birthday falls around Valentine's Day! (Just a note... Krispy Kreme does not open until 6 a.m. Whatever happened to 24 hour donuts? )
The biggest hurdle we faced on this special day was convincing Camdyn that she would not be celebrating outside of school as well. She was convinced she should have presents, cake and a party at home too. Once we got through that Camdyn had a wonderfully special day thanks to her teacher!

Predicting Weather and So Much More
Last Wednesday at 2pm the schools announced they would be closed on Thursday in anticipation of another snowy/icy day that never materialized. With the temperature in the twenties on Friday morning, the schools delayed 2 hours until mother nature made a more comfy learning environment.
So it was with great excitment on Friday morning, that I was looking for good news from Phil that life would return to normal sometime sooner than six weeks. Local news coverage promised to cut away to Punxsutawney (home of the Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center, slogan: "If you're going to earmark tax dollars, it might as well come here!"), but the main focus was closer to home coverage of Lil'Bit. Lil'Bit is the pot-bellied pig prognosticator of Lexington, NC, a stone's throw from Winston Salem.

By the way, the pig also forecast the Bears to win the superbowl, but I'm sure emotion probably got in the way on that decision. We all know which animal supplies a pigskin, but does the pig know this?
Needless to say, I had never dreamed that something as fun as this was so close, and I assure you that next year I'll provide first hand account of the festivities along with pictures. Marcey was less than happy about having the girls stay home and did not share my enthusiasm for the pig. Otherwise, she's doing a fine job coming to grips with what to expect living here and living with me.
