Grandparents and Grandchildren

Marcey spent the weekend at a retreat for women of the church, so my parents visited to keep things in order. While the kids were in school on Friday, mom and dad took advantage of the free time to visit a racing team shop. Here is dad educating mom on the finer points of building a race car:

On Sunday, we took advantage of the nice weather to visit the NC Zoo an hour away.

We had a good time riding the statues:

Pretending to be a ferocious animal awakening from sleeping in a cave:

And enjoying the antics of a polar bear out for a swim:

I hope Grandma and Pap-pap had a good time. I know we did!

Imagine this...

I am sitting in my office, a.k.a. back wall of the dining room, trying to finish up some work. In comes the "boombox" escorted by two lovely little girls. Sound fills the room (literally! it is loud in here), disney songs accompanied by the verbratto, full volume voice of Camdyn. McKenna is doing something that could be interpreted as a rain dance on tiptoes, occassionally bending over to touch the ground mid motion. Disputes over the song. Start one, forward to another, back. I think the little mermaid is on REPEAT! Measuring tapes and swiffers as microphones. Camdyn looks like a rock star swaying with her extended measuring tape... Too bad there won't be any pictures... I don't want to miss a moment of my work concert!

Never a dull or QUIET moment here. Although, I might have to stop the revelry soon, my chandelier is swaying to the beat.

On a plus note, I *think* we may all be healthy again. Knock on wood. McKenna seems to have recovered from her viral thing and ear infection. I am hoping Camdyn doesn't decide to cry in her sleep over ear pain again tonight. The ear drops should be working after day 2, right? I need my sleep! OOPS! Spoke too soon, Camdyn just got her fingers caught in the pocket door. Screams, tears, apologies, hugs and ice. All is well again. That and she FINALLY realized Little Mermaid is on repeat.

I am off to work at the clothing exchange at church in the morning. Nothing like sorting racks and shopping on 50% off day at the same time! Got some great things for the girls on Wednesday night at the presale.

BTW, wondering where Don is in all this? Upstairs, hiding! Keeghan went to bed 30 mins ago.

First You Learn To Crawl, Then...

At last, Keeghan has figured out how to go forward. It's a combination of a military crawl and using any leverage she can find to launch forward. She's learning to coordinate her body movement to get what she wants, mostly drawer handles that are located near the floor. I haven't figured out a good way to post video, but realized at this pace, time lapse might even be better.

Be mine...

Happy Valentine's Day
from Keeghan & McKenna!

Greensboro Children's Museum

Several months ago while I took Camdyn to a birthday party, Don took McKenna and Keeghan to the Greensboro Children's Museum. Ever since then, Camdyn and Don have wanted to go back. Don really just wanted to sit in the race car. His instructions were to start shooting (pictures) and not stop until he told me to. Here are the highlights:

After that mission was accomplished, the girls also got to have some fun:

Mommy's helper

McKenna can be a good helper or a "big girl" as she refers to herself now. This particular night, she was delighted to help set the table. She picked out the color of the plates for each person (we now have Fiestaware as our everyday dishes yeah! in 5 different colors...notice the all red table), selected the forks and put the napkins out. She was quite proud of herself!

She is the first to check on Keeghan and will report back "she okay, Momma". She is happy to do anything for her baby sister... now for others (like her big sister), it is another story.
