Four!!!!

It was appropriate that this is sports week at McKenna's preschool and yesterday's sport was golf so she got some practice saying "four". Marcey just says over and over "I can't believe she's four already." Of course, I'm just waiting for her to get a job and move out.

On second thought, looking back over the last four years, she's been a lot of fun so far and I'm definitely going to miss this time when she's older.
Happy Birthday McKenna!

First Grade Musical

Camdyn participated in the first grade musical that was presented to the parents at the PTA Meeting his past week. This is edited to show the highlights of Camdyn's involvement. The musical is titled "Mighty Minds" and deals with the subject of test anxiety. The Mighty Minds are superheros who teach the students that they have nothing to fear because they have been prepared and have the support of their classmates, teachers, and parents.

A Baseball Day

Yesterday Camdyn participated in the local minor league baseball team's clinic. For two hours she got to warmup and learn baseball skills from the team's manager and some of its players.
We had to run out the night before and pick up a glove since we only have two gloves; one is left handed and the other is a big softball one. We were able to find a pink one with matching wristband and ball.
Camdyn had almost as much funny as daddy did being on the field, meeting the team, and learning about the game. She got some practice catching fly balls, throwing, catching ground balls, and hitting. She even got to run the bases and get autographs after the clinic. On the way out of the stadium, she received a gift bag which included a ticket to that evening's game.
The game was a doubleheader and the whole family went and enjoyed some baseball.

Our Family is Growing!

Last week, while playing in the back yard Marcey noticed some dried grass sticking out of the playset. Upon futher investigation, the grass turned out to be an empty robin's nest. The next time we checked, we found two eggs, and checking again this morning we are now up to three eggs. It looks like we'll have some baby birds in about two weeks.

Celtic Festival

Today we attended the local celtic festival and highland games. The day started off with some concern since McKenna proclaimed at the first sight of me, "Daddy looks like a chick!"
However, once we arrived and they saw I wasn't the only one in kilt, they started to understand. We saw a border collie demonstration:
The opening cermony:
Some Irish dancers:
And of course several highland games including the caber toss:
Camdyn's going to be trying out an Irish dancing class soon.
We all had a fun time and thanks to mommy nobody was sunburned. She also got us ice cream on the drive home.
She's the best.

Coming to an End

McKenna's soccer season finished up last weekend. She had some ups and downs throughout as she decided whether she wanted to participate each week, but she saw it all the way through and had fun.

She finally got the trophy she had always wanted. And much like the Stanley Cup (Go Penguins!!), this trophy and her excitement in receiving it has followed her where ever she went this past week, especially for show and tell.
Camdyn's first year of Brownies came to an end this weekend with a roller skating party. She received all the badges and awards from her first year and is looking forward to when Brownies start up again next fall.
Camdyn also attended a birthday party this weekend at the local science center. She had a Brownie sleep over there a few weeks back, but this was the first time the rest of the family got to explore the center while she was with the party. Mommy ended up helping chaperon a scavenger hunt for the party.

Ultimately, we had a good time there checking out the hands on exhibits. McKenna and Keeghan got to run around and explore the tree slide, giant teeth, step on to play piano, swimming otters, and the shooting water game and I got to ride on a Segway.

Camdyn's last soccer game is this week, and with school slowly winding down, its almost time for all the fun that is going to keep us busy throghout the summer.
